Apartment dressing

by lo

I just moved in to my new place in West Hollywood, and the past week has been an overwhelming whirlwind of unpacking and trips to Target.  There are still a few things I’m longing to have around…

My roommate Alex wants to get a piano.  So far I’ve realized that he sings ALL THE TIME, so I’m not sure I could handle any more upbeat music in the residence. :)

Red blue weekend

by lo

I had a patriotic weekend as I continued to borrow my sister’s clothes.

This one-of-a-kind dress was one of the the things I picked out for Megan the first time I was ever in Thriving Ink.

From Meg’s closet: deer dress (Thriving Ink)

From mine: cherry red Tom’s sneakers, navy sweatshirt (Thriving Ink)

From Meg’s closet: boyfriend jeans (UO)

From mine: slouch pocket tee (Thriving Ink), Oxford flats (H & M), rosette pin (Hope Venessa), vintage bracelets, cocktail ring (Nordstrom), bark etched ring (Periphery Designs)

I’m loving the sleeveless almost-cut-off tee this summer.  Kristen Stewart’s rocking it hard in a recent Entertainment Weekly issue.

From Meg’s closet: T-strap peep toes (Nine West), cobalt tee (UO)

From mine: navy pencil skirt (H & M)

Our friend Jason picked these sailor striped shoes out for Meg for her birthday earlier this year.  They definitely fit her, in every lovely way.

Cargo

by lo

One of the things I’ll miss about having my sister around is her ability to french braid.  To to continue my week of wearing her clothes, meet her hair skills.  And cargo pants.

From Meg’s closet: gray cargo pants (Old Navy)

From mine: striped tee (F21), chain necklace (Buckle), sandals (Target), button ring (Thriving Ink)

Meg wears these laid-back boyish cuties in the best way possible.  I just wear them with cheap thrills.

Birds of a feather

by lo

So.  It has been way too long since I’ve last posted here.  It’s no excuse, but may be an explanation, to let you know I’m about to move away from the Bay Area to the lovely city of Los Angeles–and my life has become packing-centric lately.  I am excited to move on to one of my favorite places (and no, I’m not being sarcastic, even though I know everyone who lives in LA–and the majority who live outside of it– is supposed to hate it).  But my closet is less excited.  For the past 20 years, I’ve essentially had a communal wardrobe with my sister and lifelong roomie Megan.  And now that she’s transferring schools and I’m getting a new place in West Hollywood, our favorite mix-and-match clothing items will be going through some serious separation anxiety.

So in an ode to sharing, I’m making an effort to wear at least one of Meg’s things a day until I leave.  And I’ll document that here, starting with this number.

From Meg’s closet: Peacock tee from UO, “Megan” leather bracelet from Disneyland

From mine: old jeans from Express, boots from UO, feather lariat necklace from Hope Venessa, twine bracelet from Invisible Children, vintage belt

And here’s the little ginger I’ll miss, wearing my shirt with what are quite possibly the best sneakers ever.

I definitely want some of those for myself.
