Fiance for a day..

by Michaela Bammer

Apparently here at GIB we like to give you faux wedding AND engagement shoots. A few months ago Meg Sexton presented me with the opportunity to do an engagement shoot with event planner Trisha Dean. I was stoked for the photo shoot, all I had to do was find a fiance for the day. Immediately I thought of  AJ, a long time face of Thriving Ink, and thankfully, he obliged. I would consider myself a stylish person, but AJ’s closet rivals mine, I knew he would help us achieve the perfect look.

The day of the shoot I arrived to a warm welcome from Trisha, Meg, and makeup artist Sandra.  Trisha had created the most incredible vignettes that elevated the intimacy of the shoot to a believable level. I mean, come on, who else welcomes you on to a photo shoot with heart-shaped waffles! Since I had shot previously with Meg, here, I was more than comfortable being in front of her camera. We got the photos shortly after and I think the team created a beautiful end result. AJ and I have hopes of becoming faux bride and groom, so stay tuned!

Changes to: Michaela’s cottage

by Michaela Bammer

It is rare that I can keep my house decor the same for over a few weeks. I am always making little changes here and there. My favorite home accessory to change is my bedding. Since I first invited you into my cottage, here, I have made a few changes. Enjoy!

First off, I bought a bed frame from Ikea, I love how understated and simple it is, and how stark my white sheets look against the black iron.

I knew I wanted to start a picture collection above my bed, but I couldn’t start until I found the perfect beginning pieces. The record canvas is a find from Urban Outfitters, and the hidden phrase eye chart is from Z Gallerie.

Next, my favorite thing to shop for; bedding! I almost always keep my bedding plain white, but I change it up between different brands. Right now I found my newest favorite, the Restoration Hardware 50 Year Italian Vintage Wash. They are incredibly soft and have a vintage/lofty feel, with not-so-perfect wrinkles.

This great photo was gifted to me from my Guncle’s. They take a trip to Paris every year and they captured this candid during their stay. My picture doesn’t do it justice but if you look closely you will see the tip of the Eiffel tower and the great Charlize Theron Dior ad campaign. Thanks uncle Ken and Bob!

Since I have somewhere around 12 fashion magazine subscriptions, I have decided to start collecting issues. I love being able to display past issues and have an easy reference for inspiration!

About a month ago my Mom surprised me with a collection of Barbara Barry candles, the scents as well as the packaging are light and crisp. I light one every morning when I wake up and leave it burning for a few hours to fill my house.

Lastly, I refurbished an old favorite. I have a pair of these vintage mirrored frames. They originally had paintings in them, I removed those a few months ago and used photos of my own. About a week ago I decided to re-mat the frames and add vintage French Vogue black and white photos. I love how they turned out!

I hope this gives you a little inspiration :), stay tuned for more updates to my little place..

A note on accessories..

by Michaela Bammer

It is no secret that my daily uniform is a pair of dark skinny jeans, a (white, grey, or black) tank, and sandals.  + or – a leather jacket depending on the weather. I am a big fan of accessories when I am styling, however I rarely use them on myself.  Two accessories you will most definitely find on me daily are a big sunglasses and an even bigger bag. I most likely chose these two because they are as much useful as they are fashionable. I’ve listed up some of my favorite go-to, simple accessories if you are as challenged in this department as I am.. Enjoy!

Michaela’s Picks:

Sunglasses: Carrera

Jacket: L.A.M.B

Bag: Joie

Hat: Rag & Bone

Bracelet: Rachel Leigh

Necklace: Giles & Brother

Scarf: Tilo

Chopped! Bye bye long hair!

by Michaela Bammer

Things have been rapidly changing for me lately (in a good way). I have been wanting to cut my waist-length hair for about a year now, but when you get used to your hair it’s hard to get rid of it. I am in Arizona visiting my Guncle’s, one of their best friends happens to be an incredible hair stylist! Just like that, I was in the chair this morning. Polly, the artist she is, put highlights throughout my hair and gave me a Sienna-inspired cut! I am so happy with how it came out, a great way to mark the changes going on!
